From the Founder
Nicholas Edmond Baucom — Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Two Marines Moving
Many people are surprised to learn this: Two Marines Moving actively employs service members who are currently serving on active duty.
Right now. Marines. Soldiers. Sailors. Airmen. Guardians. Coast Guardsmen.
They work here part-time, by choice, because the arrangement fits military life remarkably well.
Active Duty. Part-Time. Done Right.
Military service comes first. Always. At Two Marines Moving, we respect that reality.
Many active-duty service members choose to work with us because they can build work around their existing military obligations. Depending on their schedules, teammates may:
- Work Saturdays and Sundays
- Work one, two, three, or four days per week
- Pick up additional shifts when available
- Dial work up or down as military commitments require
At the same time, they receive:
- Weekly pay
- Daily gratuity opportunities
- Industry-leading compensation
- Flexible scheduling
This is not moonlighting chaos. It is structured, professional work built around real-world military schedules.
A Paid Workout That Supports Readiness
Most military units expect physical readiness. Few organizations actually pay you while you're developing it.
At Two Marines Moving, the work itself naturally incorporates:
- Strength training and cardio
- Mobility and functional movement
- Endurance and working under load
In many ways, the work combines elements of strength training, conditioning, mobility, and teamwork into a single activity. And you're getting paid while doing it. Many active-duty teammates appreciate that the work:
- Helps keep them in shape
- Supports physical readiness requirements
- Maintains work capacity
- Reduces the need for additional gym time
It is difficult to remain sedentary while moving furniture professionally. That's one reason many service members enjoy the work.
We've Employed Every Rank — Seriously
Over the years, Two Marines Moving has employed active-duty service members across a wide range of ranks — junior enlisted, Noncommissioned Officers, Staff Noncommissioned Officers, company-grade officers, and field-grade officers. We've had teammates ranging from E-1 through O-6.
Rank is respected. But rank is not the point. Performance is.
Everyone is expected to show up prepared, carry their share of the load, and execute professionally. The standard applies equally to everyone.
Built by Someone Who Lived Both Worlds
This approach didn't happen by accident. The founder of Two Marines Moving understands the relationship between military service and civilian employment from personal experience.
He served in the Marine Corps Reserve under a six-year reserve contract. During that period, he spent approximately three years on active duty and was mobilized twice with his Marine Reserve unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He understands what it means to:
- Balance military obligations with civilian employment
- Maintain readiness
- Work around military schedules
- Serve alongside other military professionals
That perspective continues to shape how the company works with active-duty teammates today.
Structure Without Interference
Military duty comes first. Period.
Two Marines Moving respects:
- Duty schedules and chain of command
- Military obligations and mobilizations
- Training requirements
The objective is not to compete with military service. The objective is to provide a professional opportunity that fits around it.
You honor your commitments. We honor ours.
The system works because both sides understand the mission.
A Professional Environment for Professionals
Active-duty teammates frequently work alongside:
- Military veterans and reservists
- National Guard members
- Law enforcement officers and first responders
- Other active-duty service members
The result is an environment that often feels familiar — professional, disciplined, direct, accountable.
Not because anyone is pretending to be the military. But because many of the people involved already understand the value of standards, teamwork, and responsibility.
Not a Side Hustle — A Real Job
This isn't ride-share driving. This isn't gig work. This isn't chasing an app notification.
It's a real job with real work, real teams, real leadership, real accountability, real clients, and real pay.
People depend on us. Our clients trust us. Our teammates rely on one another. That responsibility matters.
Why Active-Duty Service Members Fit Well Here
Military service tends to develop certain habits:
- Showing up on time
- Completing the mission
- Working with a team
- Carrying your share of the load
- Maintaining standards
- Taking responsibility
Those traits tend to translate extremely well into moving and logistics operations.
The mission changes. The principles do not.
